This is a very nice Yamaha Tape deck with three amorphous heads and dual capstan .operates flawlessly and looks good. it does have a few scuffs and light scratches on the top comensurate with its vintage. 1980-81 Flagship Mitsubishi monster cassette deck with an in-the-day MSRP of $650. All the bells and whistles of the time. Digital counter read out and metal/alloy tape capability listed at delivering 40-20K +/- 3db@listed record level. 2 motors, 3 heads (Sendust R/P), Dolby B, timer/memory/repeat function, MPX filter, tape bias adjustment. Unit is a good 90% or better cosmetically. Lights, meters, all switches work, the lettering is pristine and the bezels too. Pseudo-rack handles are good, and only a few hairline scratches and top stacking/slide rash are the only blemishes. I fired it up, and you could hear the drive belt motor start and spin up. It reverses and FF’s, but will not play (motor runs, but the tape flow detector shuts it off.) No rocket science here – opened and carefully removed decaying, soft, saggy, flat driver belt w/hemostats. Square belts were still fairly tight, but obviously, all should be replaced. I will include a pdf copy of the factory service manual with the deck. I picked this one up about three years ago to get rebuilt as part of my Mitsubishi DA-30 rack collection; now, it has now become a part of what wife refers to (justifiably) as my “way too much stuff” stack, and is wanting out of the cram-packed spare bedroom so it could actually be a BEDROOM!. The deck weighs about 27# - and is 17” X 7” X 15” - unpacked, so, figure that at least $25 of the starting price will easily be eaten by packing & shipping cost.
