This week I'm offering this superb NAKAMICHI BX-300 CASSETTE DECK from 1984. I have thoroughly checked and tested this deck after I serviced it. It works perfectly and sounds INCREDIBLE. It is easily one of Nakamichi's best sounding decks, and remains a popular and desirable piece of audiophile gear. This particular BX-300 is one of the strongest performers of this model I have ever worked on. It still turns in wow/flutter readings that are LIKE NEW. If you are REALLY serious about how your tapes sound, then you should accept nothing less than this deck. I still own and play the very first BX-300 I ever bought, and it still turns in jaw-dropping performance every single time I use it. Every single rubber piece on this BX-300 deck has been replaced with parts that work as good or better than the original parts. You are basically buying a NEW DECK, in terms of performance and reliability. In addition to sounding and looking EXCELLENT, you can rest assured that this deck works LIKE NEW. I HAVE DONE THE FOLLOWING: I have replaced the capstan belt with a NEW belt identical to OEM specificationsI have replaced the tape back-tension belt (this belt is often overlooked -- this belt prevents tape jamming and maintains proper tape tension across the heads) I have replaced the idler tire I have lubricated and cleaned the control motorI have cleaned the control mechanism completely, paying particular attention to the control leaf switches I have lubricated the capstan bearingsI have calibrated playback speed, using only a genuine Nakamichi speed calibration tape. In the last photo, it is registering ZERO playback speed deviation, with wow/flutter peaking at just over 0.04% WTD RMS, as measured by my Nakamichi T-100 Audio Analyzer. THIS IS INCREDIBLY STABLE, ROCK-SOLID PERFORMANCE--AS GOOD AS A NEW DECK I have checked head tilt and stroke, using genuine Nakamichi alignment gauges I have checked and adjusted playback azimuth, using only a geniuine Nakamichi azimuth alignment tape I have cleaned and demagnetized the heads, capstans, and pinch rollers I have tested and verified all functions; everything WORKS LIKE NEW Overall, this deck is in EXCELLENT condition. All lights and controls work perfectly. The front faceplate looks LIKE NEW, and all lettering is like new, with NO faded or worn lettering anywhere. The only mark I could find on the front is a light scuff across the Master Fader button (just to the left of the cassette door). Other than that, the front looks NEW. The top does have a few minor marks, and there is one long scratch that is noticeable (see photo), but overall the top is very clean. The cassette door window is very clear, and so is the window over the level meters.
